Kona's Story
Is it just a coincidence that our dog Kona bears an uncanny resemblance to the dog on your redesigned labels or is it as I believe, providence, a sweet reminder of just how much Spot’s Stew has helped to improve his health?
It began last May when my husband and I noticed that our beloved dog struggled to jump up on the sofa as he normally did with great gusto. It was as if Kona had lost strength in his back legs. Thinking it was merely arthritis, after all it had been nearly ten years since we adopted him from the local shelter, we scheduled a veterinarian visit. Unfortunately, his blood work came back skewed signaling something was amiss.
The vet found an anal gland tumor and she recommended scheduling an appointment with an oncologist. We were filled with such hope that the specialist could remove the tumor but her diagnosis was devastating. There was simply nothing she could do for him at this point. Surgery was out of the question; radiation and chemotherapy were not a viable option and would lessen the quality of his remaining days. With much sympathy she told us, “There is no way to possibly know the time he has left but based on the size of the tumor and the blood test, I am surprised his kidneys have not started failing.” I was in shock and grief stricken but I resolved not to give up on our little guy. If conventional medicine could not help him, I decided there must be something that could. I started researching holistic options and for the first time, I made the connection between his diet with his overall health. This is when I started feeding him your canned lamb recipe and haven’t looked back. Since I started feeding him Spot’s Stew, a dramatic transformation has taken place. He has gone from being on the brink of death back to his lively self. His original prognosis was a maximum of three months. Amazingly, it has been one year since his diagnosis. We have been astonished at the additional benefits we have noticed. No longer is his coat patchy and thin. It has come in full and silky and he has put weight on his once much too thin frame. He has always been a picky eater but when I put Spot’s Stew in his favorite bowl, he laps it up with pleasure. He is energetic, alert and full of life. Our friends and family cannot believe that it is the same sickly, skinny and lethargic dog they once saw.
An event further strengthening my belief in Spot’s Stew occurred when I took Kona for a short walk last Halloween. Two dogs had escaped out of their fence and attacked him. His wounds were so severe that he underwent immediate surgery; he came out with many stitches and a drainage tube. Once again, the nourishment he received from eating Spot’s Stew helped him recover from his injuries. I am convinced had he not been eating Spot’s Stew before the attack, he would not have recovered so well or even at all.
I am truly grateful that we discovered Spot’s Stew because it has helped to greatly improve Kona’s quality oflife. It has been a gift and we cherish each and everyday we get to spend with him. So now you can see why I believe in my heart that your new label just might be Kona and me.
